Understanding and Communicating with Foreigners

To understand that people beyond our borders may interpret behaviors differently and respond in diverse ways, we must first study the cultural differences of various societies. This helps us approach people from foreign societies appropriately.

Even though the behavior patterns of foreign businesspeople are influenced by factors like environmental conditions (climate, food), cultural, social, economic, political, and legal conditions, the modern globalized world is increasing behavioral similarities. This is due to standardized management courses, similar working conditions, the prevalence of smartphones, and watching the same movies. Sociologically, we grow up internalizing the behavior patterns and interpretations of the culture where we are born. These can vary according to our character and experiences. General behavior patterns of a country can also differ among various social strata. The filter systems that determine which types of people rise in society influence the behavior patterns of the rising group, which in turn affects the behavior of the business class in that country.
